FAQ

Common questions before applying.

Quick answers for new members, committee nominees and people curious about training.

Do I need experience to apply?

No. New handlers can apply. Tell us your experience level so training can be matched appropriately.

Can reactive or nervous dogs apply?

Possibly. Be honest in the safety notes. The association may recommend adjustments, extra spacing, one-on-one support, or a different pathway if needed.

Do I need to be a Dogs NZ member?

Some officer roles or recognised club requirements may require Dogs NZ membership. The form asks for this so the association can check requirements when needed.

What happens after I submit a membership form?

The committee reviews the application, contacts you about next steps, confirms any fees, and provides training or event information if approved.

Will my committee nomination bio be public?

Your bio may be shared with members for nomination, voting or AGM purposes only if you consent in the nomination form.

Where do form submissions go?

Submissions are processed by Formspree and sent to the association’s configured inbox. They are not stored in GitHub Pages.

Can I update my details later?

Yes. Contact the association if your contact details, dog details, emergency contact, membership status or safety notes change.
